For Registered Nurses

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) Report The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health recommended that 80 percent of nurses have a BSN by 2020. This recommendation was taken on by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and AARP, who together created Action Coalitions in 50 states and the District of Columbia. The New Jersey Action Coalition (NJAC).

If you are considering a career in nursing or are a current nurse and need help navigating the education system, try using our app to help plan your education! The app’s creation was funded by a RWJF grant, and is one of the NJAC’s primary tools for increasing Baccalaureate Nursing Education. The app is free, and can be downloaded from links in the side panel.

For Licensed Practical Nurses

Before choosing a school, potential Practical Nursing students should know that New Jersey has many LPN programs, each of which offers different rewards (in addition to the LPN Certificate) and comes at a unique cost and program length. The three types of programs are Community Colleges, Technical Schools, and private for-profit institutions. Familiarize yourself with what New Jersey’s LPN programs have to offer by visiting our LPN Program Information page.
